A member asked:

Are mris harmful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Talking about your average health adult, with no implants, metal fragments, cardiac pacers, etc... MRIs use magnet fields to create an image and have not been shown to have harmful side effect. MRIs do not use radiation such as used in routine x-rays or CT scans. While not recommended for non-urgent issues in pregnant women, we do even use MRIs to evaluate problems with a fetus still in the womb
