Good question : If renal function is normal, adverse affects are very unlikely. The frequency of all acute adverse events after an injection of gadolinium ranges from 0.1% to 2%. The vast majority of these reactions are mild, including coldness at the injection site, nausea +/- vomiting, headache, warmth or pain at the injection site, paresthesias, dizziness, and itching. "allergic" reactions are very unusual.
