Reaction to bite: This is an allergic reaction to a bug bite. A bug/insect bite is like "injecting" foreign material (superficially) into your body. Your immune system is activated and produces substances (histamine, interleukins) to fight off and get rid of the foreign material in your body. As a side effect, they cause the redness, swelling, and itching that you have. Apply ice to area and take benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help.
