FDA GRAS since 2009: Monk fruit extract gained FDA approval in 2009 as "generally regarded as safe". Check out http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/diet-tips/ask-diet-doctor-monk-fruit for more info. You'll never know you're allergic to something unless you try it (assuming it's different from some other allergen to which you are sensitive). Since monk fruit extract is relatively unique, you'll need to try it.
