Dental infection: I have not heard of having a black color around an abscesses tooth. Could it be food stuck in the area? I would call your dentist back and see if you can get in for evaluation especially if you have been on antibiotics for a more than 72 hours without a decrease in the swelling

Blood: The black color likely represents extravasated blood - hematoma. See oral surgeon to help with diagnosis/treatment.

It is common: The antibiotics or any other treatment is a temporary relief. A tooth infection won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. See your dentist ASAP.
