Scant growth: means no large amount of growth of colonies in the dish and the grown bacterias are resistant to beta lactam antibiotics. So, this person whose this specimen taken can not be treated with beta lactam antibiotics.

Bacterial growth: The type of bacteria being cultured from whatever you turned in to get cultured are called BETA LACTAMASE organisms but not much growth is noted....mild to clinically subtle infection. Up to the discretion of the physician if they wish to treat you or not with these results.
