is it effective to stop drinking milk and just take calcium supplements?

OF COURSE: Daily calcium requirement is between 1000 - 1200 mg. A cup of milk only provides 300 mg. You can easily find calcium supplements of 400, 500 and 600 mg and taking 2 a day will help you meet your requirements.

Agree with Dr. Romero. You can also get calcium in yogurt, cheese, and other foods, and in regular vitamins. Make sure don't take too much!
