Tooth ache: your dentist should do an exam with X-Rays and then Explain to you what is going on with your painful tooth and the rest of your mouth. You should feel comfortable and trust your dentist. If not then get a second opinion.

Second opinion: May or may not be related. Have the dentist x-ray the tooth that has the crown. Perhaps, it may be bite related. If you feel it is necessary, seek a consultation with a different provider.

Prudent Idea: A clean mouth allows your dentist to work without bleeding gums or inflammation, which could contribute to your discomfort. Why replace a crown if the problem can be solved with a simple cleaning, which you probably need anyway?

Seek a 2nd opinion: Pain under the crown is a signal that something is wrong and needs to be to be corrected. Before a treatment to crown pain can be found, the problem has to be identified. Seek a second opinion or advice from another qualified dentist or dental specialist.
