Possible impingement: That refers to a possible impingement condition of the hip joint. If you have soreness at the side of your hip when sleeping on that side, then the diagnosis is likely to be a greater trochanteric bursitis, which can usually be treated with steroid injections and/or NSAIDs (i.e. ibuprofen, Aleve).
