Is it possible for my gums to shrink and altering the appearance of my mouth size and chin?

Yes: If permanent teeth have been extracted the bone/gums that were designed to support those teeth will gradually melt away. If teeth are present, periodontal disease can case bone/gum loss. Please see your Dentist to review your overall oral health.

Gingiva: It is possible for your gums to shrink due to periodontal problems or secondary to overzealous brushing. This may make your teeth look "longer" but should not alter the size of your mouth or your chin.
