Ritali-Extended: I would not recommend cutting or crushing slow-release or extended-release medications.

Problematic: the Pills are made to be extended release. If you cut the pills, yoiu may cause all of the methylphenidate to be released at once, like a short acting form of medication. The medication comes as an 18 mg tablet, so if your friend wants to try a smaller dose he should talk to his prescriber about the smaller dose form.
