See a therapist: It sounds like you are in more emotional pain than your father who says hurtful things to you then denies he did. Suggest you see a therapist who may be a psychologist or social worker first on your own. I wouldn't rush into family therapy if your dad has a temper though others may disagree with me. Tell him you'd like to talk to a professional to see if family therapy makes sense. Good luck!

Individual therapy: Sure, individual therapy may be very helpful. If your father truly is a narcissist - then family therapy may be a very painful ordeal for the rest of you. That is because highly narcissistic people lack empathy.

Yes by all means: Find the most qualified clinical psychologist who includes personality disorders as 1 of their areas of specialty. When working w' people w' personality disorders, it is imperative 2 start from the person's strengths. The fact that he wants to go 2 family therapy with U is a sign he is aware there is a family problem rather than just dumping responsibility on U. Labels like narcissist don't help.
