A member asked:

What is the relationship between obesity and diabetes? are some of these reports myths based upon discrimination?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They are related: The cdc has geographically mapped states with the highest levels of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease and there is a direct overlay correlation in all of these factors. Too many calories without sufficient exercise leads to elevated Insulin levels in attempt to drive sugar into the muscles where it can be metabolized. The cell receptors become resistant to Insulin and the blood sugar rises.
