Would an oral cancer lesion vary from hour to hour? nearly fades away, flares, then fades. intensity of color, size, and shape all seem to oscillate.

Typically, no.: If it is on your tongue, it is probably "geographic tongue" or benign migratory glossitis. If elsewhere, it can be a number of things, depending on where and coloration, pain, flat, raised, ulcerated, etc. See your Dentist for diagnosis and peace of mind. Good Luck.

Oral lesion: This is not likely oral cancer if it is waxing and waning. I would recommend seeing your dentist for a exam so you can figure out what your problem is. It's likely inflammatory in nature, but should be looked at just to make sure it is nothing serious. The general rule of thumb is that if you have a lesion in your mouth that stays around for more than 2 weeks, see your dentist ASAP.

No: A cancerous oral lesion will not change shape, size or appearance in that manner. Please see a local dentist or oral surgeon for an examination.
