Most tongue: lesions (in the absence of the use of Tobacco products ) are due to IRRITATION from shar edges on teeth or fillings...Have the biopsy.but NOT TO WORRY! Hope this is helpful! Dr Z

Yes: It's possible. Cancers can go from sub-clinical to clinical in a very short period of time. Please return to your Dentist, or preferably to an Oral Surgeon, for Oral Cancer Rescreening Examination.

White spot on tongue. Dentist examined and used Velscope and said everything looked good and most likely from my teeth scraping it. ?
Velscope oral cancer screen shows black spots on throat. Oral surg and ENT say they don't see anything/no symptoms, so won't do anything. Is there a protocol for early dx/positive Velscope? By definition, screening occurs with no symptoms. Confused.
