Sprained ankle 6 mo. ago. never seemed to heal. podiatrist tried prednisone but it didn't help. what next? allergic to all otc anti-inflammatories

MRI: Sprained ankle pain can linger after immobilization and medications have stopped. An MRI is indicated to determine damage done to the ligaments. X-rays would not show this unless the joints stabilized by these ligaments were dislocated. If there is ligament damage, surgical intervention would be required.
