Personality: If you have a long term pattern of behavior that causes emotional pain to yourself or the people that you care about - getting help might be a good idea.

Probably to get eval: Not sure why your doc would say that unless concerned. So it would be good to see someone qualified and get an evaluation. Then you can decide if you need to continue in treatment.

Hard to say: As there are many personality disorders, some more worrisome/bothersome than others. You may be best served if you work with a therapist in regards to a personality disorder, but much depends on what the issues is at hand and how much dysfunction it's creating in your life and your interest to want to enact change.
