I have been exercising for a week now and am now suffering stiffness and joint pain, what might i do?

Relative rest: Joint pain is not something you want after exercise. I suspect you have had too fast a progression of your activity level. The body needs time to adjust to and respond to new activity levels. I would only workout one body part hard or muscle group every fourth or fifth day. If your lower extremity joints are hurting mix in some low impact cardio with a day of rest in between.
