Usually not.: the most common cause of anemia is iron deficiency. There are a number of other cause, none of which is due to a blood cancer. It is true that a small number of people who become anemic do so as the first sign of hematologic malignancy, such as leukemia, myeloma, or myelodysplastic syndrome. If you are worried about this, ask you doctor to explain what is going on.
