Multiple methods: There are a number of ways that you can help with these. There are some topical medications such as mederma and vitamin E oil that will help. Laser resurfacing and dermabrasion can help a bit. There are some medications that can be injected into the lesions as well. Consult a cosmetic dermatologist for more treatment options.

Yes: The average patient who just waits for these to resolve may take a year or so to see them fade. Skin tone changes are often the last thing to improve & any spots that were scratched often or became infected would take the longest. Vit E and or sunscreen can help.
