Many causes: Swelling and pain can come from arthritis, bursitis or a tendon or meniscus problem. Locking usually involves the meniscus. You need an MRI of your knee to determine the exact cause in your case. Also an orthopedic doctor may be able to give you a better idea of what is going on just by examining your knee.
