Yes and no: Initially, whey protein will help you build muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, but it will eventually raise the base metabolic rate of your body.... and burn more fat. All things being equal, increasing your intake of protein is almost never a bad idea. Make sure to add some resistance training to take full advantage. Good luck!
