Can't know for sure: The c-reactive protein (crp) is elevated in response to inflammation. Many causes of inflammation resolve (such as infection) and the crp soon returns to normal levels. The crp elevation itself is not harmful, just signals that inflammation is brewing somewhere. Knowing whether you should be concerned depends upon your recent medical history and reason it was checked. Hope this helps.
