What might a chest x-ray show if you have some pain when breathing in?

Possibly: A chest xray can be very helpful to find a cause for chest pain, such as pneumonia or rib fracture. Depending on how long it has been going on, where the pain is located and what other symptoms are there (cough, trauma, etc.) your doctor can decide what other studies might be needed. Sometimes a very sensitive xray called a ct (or cat) scan is needed to sort out in detail what's wrong.
