Sore Gum: red spots as well as white spots on the lining of the mouth and gums can be caused by viruses. Best to have your PCP check and make sure. Medication may help.

Red & white spots: Lots of possibilities. May be viral, bacterial, fungal. May be from same cause or from coincident unrelated causes. May be neoplasticism. Please see your Dentist or an Oral Surgeon for differential diagnosis.
