i have tiny red spots on the back of the roof of my mouth and a white spot on my lower gums, which feels sore in that area. what could this be?

Sore Gum: red spots as well as white spots on the lining of the mouth and gums can be caused by viruses. Best to have your PCP check and make sure. Medication may help.
