A member asked:

I have an ear infection and it started draining yesterday and is still draining constantly, how long will it drain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to predict: This can occur after rupture of an eardrum during an infection. It might self heal over weeks or months or drain indefinately until treated. It could be the result of a foreign material in the canal or outer canal infection & either could self heal or become chronic. Either way, a visit to the doc could at least decide where the problem is & allow treatment.
