A member asked:

What exactly does dysplasia mean on a pap smear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"overinterpretation": The Pap test is a cytological exam which is usually made by a cytologist who reports that the "cells of your cervix" look normal or abnormal. Dysplasia may be suspected; but the diagnosis of a dysplasia(mild, moderate or severe) is usually made by a histopathological exam of a biopsy of your cervix to describe a disordered arrangement of the cells. By the way, why did you have a Pap test at age 18
