You need an: x-ray to be decided . Some kind of metatarsal fracture can take up to 8 weeks to heal.

6 weeks: it depends where on your fifth metatarsal it was broken and if it is displaced at all. Some areas and types of fractures take longer than others to heal. Make sure you follow your doctor's directions so it heals properly. Usually those fifth metatarsal fractures have to be immobilized in a boot. They take about 6 to 8 weeks to heal.
