I broke the base of my 5th metatarsal , base. nondisplaced. now in cast, non weightbearing and have been in it 4 weeks. i see doctor on the 5th week. generally do they move you to a boot?

If it is not a Jones fracture through the shaft of the bone and they see good healing on x-ray then yes they will probably use a boot

as long as the fracture has not shifted and shows evidence of interval healing it would be typical to go to a boot depending also upon your overall health and gait.
