Not uncommon : Half of all pregnancies have some bleeding or spotting in the first trimester. Of these, half go on to have perfectly normal babies and no one knows the cause. The other half end in miscarriage, usually because there was something seriously wrong with the baby. Hope this helps. Best wishes for a healthy mom and baby.
