Yes: About 1 out of 3 women will have spotting or bleeding during the first three or four months of pregnancy. Most of the time the spotting does not mean that anything bad is going on. When a pregnancy has been determined to be normal by hearing or seeing the fetal heart beating, the chance of a miscarriage is less than about 5%.
