Other causes: A new HIV infection can present with flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, enlarged lymph nodes) about 2-4 weeks from exposure. There can be several other reasons for enlarged lymph nodes, the most common of which is recent infections (laryngitis, sinus infection, ear, infection, pneumonia). If the node persists > a few weeks, get tested at your PCP or health department.

Probably not: tge best way to rule out HIV, from an exposure of several months, is the antibody test, which can be done at any health department anonymously or through your doctor's office. Signs of upper respiratory infection , as well as lymph nodes enlargements usually happens. between 4-6 after exposure.

Unlikely: Just one node is not likely. Look for other causes, mouth sores, dental infections. Scalp and ear infections if the node is in the back of the neck. It wouldn't hurt to get tested though for the safety of others and your own piece of mind. Always have access to condoms.
