A member asked:

Do pregnancy and corpus luteum cysts go hand in hand? or can you have one without the other?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: After a follicle releases its egg from the ovary, its remains & becomes a corpus luteum producing progesterone. If the egg is not fertilized, the corpus luteum decays, breaks down & disappears. If instead it fills with fluid or blood, then you have a corpus luteum cyst. So the cyst and pregnancy do not cooexist, unless you're talking about pregnancy with a preexisting cyst. Hope that helps.
