How long do docs recommend i should i expect to stay out of work after hernia surgery?

1 to 4 weeks : Depending on type of hernia, type of repair and type of work you do it can be as short as 1 week if your work does not involve more then 10-15lbs lifting and up to 6 weeks if you do heavy work or have large abdominal/incisional hernia.
