A member asked:

I have inner & middle hearing loss, a perforated ear drum (burning pain in my ear 6/12) consultant sending me for ct what will this diagnose ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mastoid infection: If you have chronic otitis media with a perforation of the tympanic membrane (ear drum) with otorrhea (drainage), you otologist wants to identify the presence and location of disease (infection) in the mastoid bone ( the bone directly behind the ear. This bone has air cells that may be infected and need to be removed for cure. Hearing improvement is NOT the goal of surgery. Safety and dryness.
