A member asked:

Can anything go seriously wrong during a blood draw? like a blood clot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very unlikely: Blood draw from the vein is a safe procedure. You are more at risk in your drive to and from the place you go to get blood drawn than the blood draw itself. In 1-2% of cases there may be a bruise at the site that usually resolves on its own. Blood clot formation, if it occurs is very rare. I have not known even one instance in 40 years.
