A member asked:

What blood test would a doctor order to c if a person has blood clots or c if there is something going wrong like this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

D-dimer: A blood test for D-dimer is a good screening test. A negative result is more useful in excluding blood clots than a positive one of concluding the presence of a clot. It also depends on the physical location of the suspected clot and imaging studies may be relevant.
