Thyroidectomy: If you had a thyroidectomy done for hyperthyroidism, and then developed constipation, it's possible your constipation is due to your having not enough thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). You might ask your doctor about doing a blood test to check levels of your thyroid hormone.
