A member asked:

Can a low glycemic diet help hypothyroid disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No evidence: There is no evidence to suggest that a low glycemic index diet will help hypothyroid disease. Taking enough thyroid hormone to get thyroid levels into the normal range is the best treatment for hypothyroidism. However, a low GI diet may help someone lose weight and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
