Okay: It is important that you take your thyroid replacement medication, levothyroxine. Low carbohydrate diet is okay as long as you eat a mixed diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts; low in saturated fats; no tobacco, no more than one drink a day and exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

Yes!: I'm hypothyroid and have been low carbing it since 1995. All you need to do is make sure you are not hypothyroid by taking an appropriate dose of thyroid!

Generally safe: If you hypothyroidism adequately controlled and you follow on low carbohydrate sensible diet and it would not be a contraindication. However i rapid weight loss or a fad diet would not be appropriate.
