Form of epilepsy: Petit mal is a form of primary generalized epilepsy. It is a specific type of seizure of childhood and adolescence usually ages 6 years to 16 years. The term is sometimes incorrectly used for partial seizures or 'small seizures'.

It is unlikely: Petit mal or absence phenomena , with EEG changes of wave-spike 3 times per minute are usually a relatively non-progressive specific brain irregular activity. It is not the common manifestation of tumors, ischemia, or masses in the brain tissue. It is not a degenerative disease. The treatment options are quite successful.

Normal finding: The thymus gland is found in your mediastinum, it is part of your immune system (it helps with the development of your t-cells). It is larger in youth and diminishes in size with age. This is not a finding that suggests a problem.
