I would think so: Your teeth should not be hurting when eating. Is the food getting stuck between your teeth? You may have cavities or open contacts. Impacted food can lead to gingival inflammation and eventual bone loss. Se a local dentist for evaluation.

Yes: You should not have pain after chewing, and the fact that it lasts for 12 hours is very concerning. This could indicate an infected tooth or teeth, a fractured tooth, sore teeth due to teeth grinding or clenching, infected or injured gums, food impaction. See a dentist for a thorough examination and evaluation.
