Provide info/meds: A travel medicine doctor is one who can provide health information regarding the health risks/infectious disease that may be unique to the country you are visiting, what immunizations/medications may be used to protect you while traveling and also general advice on how to stay healthy while traveling. They usually have vaccines that other clinics may not carry (like yellow fever).
