What is the difference between endocrine cells and target cells?

Endocrine physiology: I am not sure what you are reading and trying to interpret. But presumably "Endocrine cells" refers to the cells of the endocrine organ itself, whereas "target cells" are the cells of the organ that the hormone goes to. Ex. thyroid hormone is made by thyroid endocrine cells, and circulate in blood and interact with target cells in the heart to increase heart rate.
