How effective is aversion therapy for treating obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd)?

Not effective: Aversion therapy (positive punishment) is not appropriate for OCD. Exposure+Response Prevention and Cognitive Therapy work best. E+RP is a structured program of confronting the feared situation or thought without using the compulsive behavior to escape from it. CT challenges faulty thinking associated with OCD. Effective treatment with either approach takes a very skilled therapist

OCD: It is best to consult with a Clinical Psychologist who has expertise in multiple forms of treatment. if you had a physical exam by a Dr. & don't have a physical illness, consult with a Clinical Psychologist for psychotherapy with ZOOM sessions & a Psychiatrist for medication. Fears and anxiety could be heightened due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Stay safe & hopeful to elevate your immune system.
