A member asked:

When do doctors need to maintain a sterile field?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Body invasion: Any time a doctor breaks the outer coats of the body (incision, trocars, access to body cavities or vessels), then a sterile field is advisable to prevent infection of those parts so exposed.
