How effective is a wide local excision for treating melanoma?

Melanoma: Wide local excision is generally a very effective treatment. The main issue with melanoma is the depth of the cancer. Superficial melanomas have a very high cure rate with excision alone. Deeper lesions have an increased chance of spreading to other areas and can require additional treatment in addition to excision. Hope that helps.
