Boiling: Boiling stainless steel instruments should suffice for your needs. If you are only using it on yourself, you do not need to boil it between uses. Remember, you'll never reach every nook and cranny, and you can certainly damage your teeth and gums if you do not use the instrument properly.

Not recommended: While you might think that doing it yourself will save you time and money, you may cause costly damage to your teeth and/or surrounding tissue. Keep a good oral hygiene and visit your dentist on a regular basis.

Please don't: I promise you,you can do more harm than good. You can permanently damage your teeth and/or gums. Best solution is to brush AND floss exactly as prescribed by your Dentist/Hygienist. If hard tarter still collects on your teeth, schedule more frequent professional cleanings. More frequent cleanings are a lot less expensive, and much more effective, than having to repair the damage DIY Rx causes.
