Chostochondritis: Inflammation of the rib cartilages can occur due to things like viral infection or just sleeping in a funny position. It usually feels like tenderness along the central portions of the ribs or breastbone. Usually NSAIDs can help. If there's any shortness of breath or deeper chest pain with it please see your doctor.

Costochondritis? : I suspect you have Costochondritis: inflammation at juncture of cartilage & rib either at breastbone or approx 3-5 in. lateral to breastbone on either side. Typically caused by viruses, & by trauma - blunt or from strenuous activity. No treatment necessary except for anti-inflammatory or other pain medicine; should clear spontaneously in 2-4 weeks. Hope that helps.
