Various causes: Cardiomyopathy is a generic term for abnormal heart muscle. It can be caused by infections, poisons, genetics, and physiologic causes. There are both weak heart and 'strong heart' cardiomyopathies. The cause of someone's cardiomyopathy requires more information than the term cardiomyopathy.

What is chronic heart disease and how long can you live with it is there a cure?

Nonspecific: "chronic" is just med-speak for "long-term." so what you're saying is "how long can i live with long-term disease." the answer, of course, is "a long time." there are thousands of heart diseases, and each has its own impact on life expectancy, ranging from none at all to much more severe. Without a specific, named condition, nobody could give you a more specific answer.
